SIE Successfully Held 2018 Spring Reading Review Competition

On March. 14th, School of International Education (SIE) 2018 Spring Reading Review Competition was held successfully in the Classroom Y525 in ZhiCheng Building. The Vice Dean of SIE, Mr. Yu ZHENG attended the competition.

In this competition, altogether 15 groups of students shared their reflection on reading the books that they recommended with rich thoughts and creative forms. Moroccan student CHAIMAA AAYALE shared her understanding on the different images in Jonathan Livingston Seagull, encouraging all students to pursue their own dreams. Mauritian student GIRIRAJ RADERAM chose the Chinese classic Tao Te Ching, presenting the modern meaning of the ancient wisdom. While Sri Lankan student THABREW LAHIRU ARUNA SHAN HEMACHANDRA introduced another Chinese classic Journey to the West to all SIE students. Two Indian students, SUDEEPTI VENKAT MUNDIRINTI and VAISHNAVI RAVULA shared their reflections on world peace and women's social status by reading I am Malala. All participants shared their special understandings and thoughts on the books they recommended.

Finally, according to the evaluation result, CHAIMAA AAYALE (Moroccan) won the first prize. THABREW LAHIRU ARUNA SHAN HEMACHANDRA (Sri Lankan) and JITLADA ROBPAIRIN (Thai) won the second prize. GIRIRAJ RADERAM (Mauritians), JAYAMAHA MUDALIGE DONA ANNE ARUTHNIE JAYAMAHA (Sri Lankan) and SUDEEPTI VENKAT MUNDIRINTI (Indian) won the third prize.

The Reading Review Competition has become an important channel of constructing SIE cultural education, enhancing the students' humanistic quality and improving their Chinese skills.
