Application Guide of Chinese Government Scholarship For Nanjing Medical University

Chinese Government Scholarship Program is established by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between the Chinese government and the governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars. MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Program.

1. The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory study).

2. Scholarship students should complete their study within the set length of schooling; duration for scholarship specified in the Admission Notice cannot be extended in principle.

3. Students whose duration of program and duration of scholarship are more than one year must pass annual review in the end of each academic year to get the corresponding scholarship of next academic year.



II. Scholarship coverage

1. Full Scholarship covers

●Tuition waiver. Tuition funds will be comprehensively used by the host university. It may cover scholarship students’ education, administration costs.

●Accommodation: free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy.

If the host university requires students to live on campus, the university will accommodate the scholarship students in a university dormitory (usually a twin room); if the host university permits students to live off campus, the university will provide monthly/quarterly accommodation subsidy:

Master’s students (general scholars): CNY 700 per month;

Doctoral students (senior scholars): CNY 1000 per month.

●Stipend:

Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month;

Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.

Within the scholarship duration, registered scholarship students will receive a stipend from their host university each month. Students registering on or before the 15th of the month will receive a full stipend of that month. Those who register after the 15th of the month will receive a half stipend of that month. Graduating students will receive stipend until half month after the graduation date. If registered student stays out of China for more than 15 days due to a personal reason (school holidays excluded), his stipend will be stopped during his leaving.

2. Partial scholarship covers

One or some items of the full scholarship.



III. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health.

2. Applicants must not be a registered student in Chinese universities at the time of application; or be a graduate from Chinese universities for more than one year;

3. Education background and age limit

●Applicants for master program must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

●Applicants for Ph. D. program must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.



IV. How and When to apply

Applicants for CSC scholarship must submit application on the application system of both Nanjing Medical University and CSC website and send signed application form and relevant documents to Nanjing Medical University.

Applicants for Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program must finish online application and send application form and relevant documents to Nanjing Medical University before March 31, 2017.


V. Application Procedure

1. Applicants must log on the application system of both Nanjing Medical University (http://admission.njmu.edu.cn/) and CSC website (www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org) to submit your scholarship and study application.

2. A package of complete application documents (Please check Application Documents for the detailed checklist) must be submitted to Nanjing Medical University before the deadline.

NOTE: CSC does not accept any individual application other than the recommended applications from Nanjing Medical University.


VI. Application Documents (in duplicate)

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarshipin Chinese or English..

2. Application Form for Nanjing Medical University.

3. Passport copy.

4. Notarized highest diploma (photocopy): Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

5. Academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

6. A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English with a minimum of 800 words.

7. Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.

8. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded fromhttp://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org). The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

9. Non-criminal certificate. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

10. Applicants with valid HSK Certificate should enclose it in the application package.

The above documents should be bound on top left corner (in duplicate) and sent directly to Nanjing Medical University, who will forward the nominated documents to CSC before March 31, 2017. No application documents will be returned.


VII. Approval and Notification

1. Nanjing Medical University will review the application documents and decide the nominated candidates.

2. Nominated candidates will be officially awarded Chinese Government Scholarship with the approval from CSC.

3. Each individual applicant is eligible for only one scholarship. CSC is authorized to award only one scholarship to each individual applicant nominated by more than one university.

4. CSC will send, in June or July, Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) of the approved applicants to the host universities, who will forward the documents to the scholarship winners; or CSC will send them directly to approved applicants.

5. Students are not permitted, in general, to apply to change their specialties, host universities or the duration of study as specified in the Admission Letter once they agree to accept the scholarship.

6. If applicants fail to register before the deadline for registration, their scholarship will not be reserved.
