The SIE students exhibited their best efforts and it turned out to be the best reward. Students who had been asked to comment on the SIE team responded: Nigam Patel: It was certainly a huge and difficult task for all 26 participants to dance at the same beat, but our determination, dedication and devotion to it made the whole thing possible and it was a lifetime experience for sure. Abdul Kadir Hamdani: It was a good experience to have danced along with 26 of our schoolmates on the same stage and winning the 1st prize made our efforts worth… Lapia Hussain: It was an experience that would rarely been forgotten. SIE Students of international education did give our best efforts to prepare a dance in very less time that was given to us and in the end the 1st prize justified the hard work put into it…z On the 10th of December, 2008 oversea students class from India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria, and US in Jiangning Campus started an every semester Chinese Language Competition. The competition activities include writing/guessing Chinese characters, listening/speaking show and some other interesting items. The multicultural students actually performed brilliantly as a result of their three months’ Chinese study experience. Many of the students while expressing their opinions said studying Chinese offers them a good opportunity to understand China and its culture therefore making their studying and living in china more easier and exciting. They express hope for more of this activity happening in future. On November 25, 2008, the international students of Batch 2008 carried out an interesting extracurricular activity the competition of locating places on a Chinese map. The students, with the help of their teachers of Chinese and a Chinese dictionary, practiced the Chinese they had already learned, trying to find places on the Chinese map. The result revealed that their 2 months’ Chinese studies are successful; They could quickly find the positions of the designated places, choose the latest way, and use Chinese to explain the whole tour plan to their fellow students. This activity facilitates the teaching of Chinese, arouses students’ interest in Chinese, and helps them develop a good habit of self study. Seven professors and 2 international students comprised the judge group. Finally, the first prize was awarded to Ge Zheng and Wang Xiuying. Second-prize went to Wang Ningning, Qi Jing and Wu Tuojiang. Third-prize winners were Su Chuan, Qiao Huifen, Wang Lei, Zhang Faming, Lu Yan and Ren Yongya.
