Overview of School of International Education
The School of International Education (SIE) of Nanjing Medical University was founded in June 2005, with altogether 17 administrative staff at present. Currently, SIE has enrolled more than 1200 international students and they are mainly from the following countries: India, Nepal, Pakistan, South Korea, Vietnam, Bahrain, Sudan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Afghanistan, United States, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Mauritius, Malaysia, Japan and Egypt. Currently there are 653 international students.
SIE has developed active and extensive cooperation with foreign institutions, such as Wayne State University and Creighton University in U.S.A.; University of Manchester in the UK; University of Gothenburg and Karolinska Institute in Sweden; Western University in Canada and Queensland University of Technology in Australia. So far, SIE has sent several teachers to study in U.S.A., UK, Canada and Australia to improve their ability to teach the international students.
For eleven years, the SIE has consistently placed emphasis on quality education. Through careful planning and a considered, step-by-step approach in designing its curriculum, the School has developed well and has established its own pedagogical character. The School's recent honors and awards include being selected among the first group of Jiangsu International Education Pilot Schools in 2011, being selected as a Jiangsu Province Advanced Foreign Expert Administration Group in the same year, being selected as a Jiangsu Province Advanced International Education Group in 2012, and being selected as a Jiangsu Province Advanced International Education Group again in 2014.
