From Oct. 20-22, NMU launched serial activity entitled 2017 Experience Jiangsu—International Students Cultural Exchange and Practice, and the first station is to visit the city of Lianyungang where the Kangda College locates, an independent school of NMU. 27 international students, who are winners of Jiangsu Jasmine Government Scholarship and Nanjing Medical University Full Scholarship of Year 2017, participated in this activity.
On the morning of Oct. 21, the launching ceremony was held in Kangda College. Zheng Yu, vice dean of School of International Education, Dong Shixuan, director of Office of Party Affairs of Kangda College, other teachers and students attended the ceremony.
After the launching ceremony, representatives of international students made partners respectively with Chinese student volunteers, and then visited the Nursing Skills Training Center and Rehabilitation Therapy Training Center. Subsequently, accompanied by Chinese partners, international students climbed the Huaguo Mountain, arrived at the Yunv peak which is the highest peak of Jiangsu Province, and learned the story of Monkey King, one of the four China’s great classics. Besides, international students, together with their Chinese partners, visited the port of Lianyungang, the land-sea crossing hub along the Belt and Road, understood the Belt and Road policy, discovered the strategic position of Lianyungang in the international economic cooperation corridor of the New Eurasia Land Bridge, and recorded the precious friendship between China and foreign countries. In addition, Kangda College organized a special party of making rice dumplings as well, where both Chinese and international students had a good time and deepened their friendship.
The trip to Lianyungang city is the first station of the serial activity entitled ‘2017 Experience Jiangsu’. SIE will continue to select representatives of outstanding international students to visit other cities of Jiangsu Province, help them step deeper into China’s society, understand the national and provincial conditions, and enhance their sense of involvement in China’s society so as to inform them of the flourishing development trend of China, which is of great significance to deepen their sense of recognition of China and cultivate more international talents who know China and love China.
