On February 1, SIE held the commendation conference for international students in 2020 and Spring Festival Gala online. The conference commended international students who won scholarships in the academic year of 2019-2020 and who performed well in various activities in 2020. The live broadcast was directed to more than 900 international students at home and abroad. The conference was hosted by Mr. Shen Henglu (Austin), director of Student Affairs Office of SIE.
At the conference, the annual review video was broadcast to review the extraordinary Year 2020 with all international students. Mr. Zheng Yu, vice dean of SIE, reviewed and summarized the education and management of international students in 2020, congratulated all the award-winning students and extended Chinese New Year's blessings. Mr. Zhang Donghui and Ms. Jiang Hailan, both vice deans of SIE, respectively read the Decision on Commending All Kinds of Scholarships for International Students at All Levels in Academic Year of 2019-2020 and Decision on Commending Winners of Related Activities for International Students in 2020.
In 2020, international students at home and abroad complied with the arrangement of the University and SIE, overcame all kinds of difficulties and persisted in their studies. 522 students have won the scholarships from the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Province, Nanjing city and the University, including 375 undergraduate students, 98 master students and 49 doctoral students. 83 international students have won national awards. Besides, 150 individuals and 11 groups have won awards in student activities.In 2020, the education and management of international students has been conducted normally and orderly. Online teaching, online Q & A, online assessment and other work have be carried out for students of home and abroad, providing a strong guarantee for the normal study and graduation for international students. In 2020, a total of 73 international students have successfully graduated and obtained their degrees.In combination with the epidemic prevention and control work, SIE has organized a series of online and offline student activities, such as the Anti-epidemic Short Video Competition, the 6th Multicultural Exhibition, Singing Chinese Songs Together Competition, etc., which have enriched the spiritual life of international students and strengthened the emotional connection between students, teachers and students, and between students and the University. Due to the excellent work performance, our University has been awarded the Advanced Collective of Education for International Students of Jiangsu Province in 2020.
Representatives of award-winning students were invited to share their learning experience and life experience with other students. After the commendation conference, all teachers and students gathered in the cloud to watch the artistic performance elaborately prepared by overseas students and celebrate the arrival of Chinese New Year in 2021.
